Sequoia & Kings Canyon lie side by side in the southern Sierra Nevada, east of the San Joaquin Valley. Activities and weather vary a lot by season and elevation, which ranges from 1,370' to 14,494'. Sequoias grow, in the snow, above 5,000'.

Sequoia National Park is the countries second oldest national park, founded in 1890 by President Benjamin Harrison, to protect the Giant Sequoia trees from logging.

This dramatic landscape testifies to nature's size, beauty, and diversity -- huge mountains, rugged foothills, deep canyons, vast caverns, and the world's largest trees.
